Gilfach Rhos Wildlife Survey

A very damp and breezy morning on the slopes above the Pont marteg carpark. A Peregrine made a racket (probably a juvenile), a few yellowhammers and a Grey wagtail flew over. A Northern Eggar moth caterpillar was found (huge) whilst the only really active invertebrates were micro-moths. A couple of small heaths and meadow brown butterflies looked pretty miserable. On the other side of the Wye earlier I caught a gatekeeper butterfly which I think proved to be the wildlife highlight of the day……
