Mullein Moth

(From Janice)These fine looking (and increasingly fat) caterpillars are munching their way through our mullein plants.  It’s not too much of a surprise to find that they are larvae of Mullein moth.  Rhayader by Nature would be interested to know whether they are elswhere in our area.

Hi Janice – I saw one on a Mullein a few years ago near Llanwrthwl, but never since. There is a Mullein plant in llanwrthwl churchyard that I have checked each year but with no joy. It is a late plant though – not appeared yet.
