Birds and snow

Starlings have discovered the bird table – with 14 devouring the oats I put out very quickly. There are now 3 Song Thrush squabbling over the food – not bad for a species that used to vacate this area in winter. A few long tailed tits around the village but none attracted to the peanuts so far. A walk up to Penrhos was very quiet with just singles of Fieldfare, Jay and Treecreeper. A wren flew into a hole in the snow and could be heard scrabbling about in the gap between snow and bare earth.
