Nov 21st Sunday. ‘Getting to grips with wild Rhayader’ – the next step. @ CARAD, East Street, Rhayader. 2.30-4.30pm. After the very successful series of pilot surveys in 2010 we now need to collate the wildlife records already collected and focus on 2011 and the best way to continue with our ‘light and easy survey technique’ but this time with more intent. Please come along to find out more and bring with you as many friends, thoughts and ideas you can muster, If you have any field recording sheets from this years survey please bring them with you or send them to our secretary. 9th December. Thursday. ‘Through the Lens’ – @ CARAD, East Street, Rhayader. 7.30 – 9.30pm. (Postponed)

With local photographer Liz Fleming Williams. A stunning showcase of projected photographs, all taken within our study area. This is an opportunity to share photo tips and will be followed by the launch of the first Rhayader by Nature Photographic competition.

January 13th. (Thurs). ‘Mammals’ – bats to rats with Sorcha Lewis. Followed by ‘Through the lens’ with local photographer Liz Fleming-Williams. (7.30 to 9.30P.M)

What species might we expect to find during our surveys, how do we identify them and where should we look. Sorcha is co-ordinator for the study and recording of mammals undertaken by the Radnorshire Mammal Group. Followed by the postponed event with local photographer Liz Fleming Williams. Feb 17th (Thursday). Plant identification made simple. With Ray Woods. 7.30-9.30 P.M

For beginers and others interested in knowing more about flowering and non-flowering plants – what we might expect to find during our surveys and where and when. Venue : CARAD, East Street, Rhayader.

February 26th (Saturday). ‘Nestbox making for birds and bugs’ with local nestbox making fanatics.

Materials supplied so come along and make a box for your garden. This event is suitable for all ages. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Venue : Smithfield Market, North Street, Rhayader. 10.30 to 12.30.

March 17th. (Thurs) ‘Phil the bug man’ – on bug identification.

Learning more about identifying land and water invertebrates, and what we might find when and where in our study area – with Phil Ward local entomologist extraodinaire. Creepy and crawly to many but beautiful to Phil and he will show you why. Venue : CARAD, East Street, Rhayader. 7.30 – 9.30pm
